Experiencing the magic of inner cities, far away destinations, and the familiarity of home, this concert will include Mason’s Inner City Rhapsody, Copland’s Letter from Home, Gershwin’s American in Paris, and more! We are proud to feature renowned baritone Isaiah Feken and Joan Tower’s Sixth Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman. Join us to celebrate the opening of our 25th Anniversary season with new Music Director, Dr. Emily Eng!

Isaiah Feken, Baritone

A former Patricia and Dr. Carl S Hoveland Opera Fellow, baritone Isaiah Feken has appeared on operatic and symphonic stages across the US and abroad.  Isaiah’s recent performances include Harry Easter in Street Scene, 2nd Man in Kiss Me, Kate, and Giuseppe in Light in the Piazza with Central City Opera as well as covering Papageno in Des Moines Metropolitan Opera's recent production of Die Zaubertflöte. Isaiah has also appeared with Opera Colorado, Pittsburgh Festival Opera, Des Moines Ballet, Athens Choral Society, Crested Butte Music Festival, and the Des Moine Community Orchestra. A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Isaiah received his B.M. from the University of Tulsa, later completing his M.M. and D.M.A. at the University of Georgia. Dr. Isaiah Feken currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Voice at Western Carolina University, and was the Artistic Director/Principal Conductor for Drake Opera Theatre at Drake University from 2022-2024.
