May Masters - May 4 & 5, 2019

The Blue Ridge Orchestra's 2019 Season Finale featured Aaron Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man," conducted by BRO bassoonist Mary Thomas, as well as his "Concerto for Clarinet," conducted by Milton Crotts and featuring BRO's own principal clarinet Gary Spaulding in the soloist role. The entire symphony joined in for Brahms' stirring Symphony No. 2, a fitting way to close out the season!

BRO Revels! 2018 with Newberry & Verch

For BRO Revels! 2018, we put together a genre-crossing, multi-disciplinary holiday feast for the senses, with guests Joe Newberry and April Verch treating us to their Ozark/Quebec fiddle and step dance traditions, Rebecca O’Quinn choreographing a balletic dance to accompany Vivaldi’s Winter, and Megan McConnell and Rebecca O’Quinn joining the orchestra on vocals. Although the event was postponed to January 13 due to snow, it was a wonderful wintry time!

This event was sponsored by Mosaic Community Lifestyle Realty, and was supported by the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
