ERIC'S MILES FOR MUSIC, ENDURANCE RIDE: 9/24/2023

With just seven days before the ‘Mountains to Coast 2023 Cycle NC’ adventure is launched from Banner Elk, North Carolina, I wanted to provide the first personal posting on the ‘Miles for Music’ campaign. Before outlining preliminary information related to the ride, I’d like to thank two individuals from Blue Ridge Orchestra (BRO) who have encouraged me to pursue this activity: President of the BRO Board of Directors, Deb Kenney and Orchestra Manager, Priscilla Anderson. Deb’s insights on the possibilities related to the campaign coupled with Priscilla’s ability to translate the fundraising concept into an interactive donation platform are two reasons why ‘Miles for Music’ is a positive event for the BRO.

I completed my final endurance ride this morning at the River Arts District. With dedicated cycling pathways and a connector to Hominy Park, it is one of my favorite places to cycle in Asheville. For cycling enthusiasts, I’m riding on a 2017 TREK Domane 6 Series with Dura-Ace components which was purchased in Singapore. My bike’s nickname – Y2M - may have a certain numeric appeal for the digital generation, but it is also reflective of one of the most inspiring cellists of my generation: Yo Yo Ma.

I look forward to writing more about the campaign as it gets underway. In the meantime please take time to visit the BRO website to learn more about this incredible volunteer orchestra.

Thank you for reading Eric’s update. This fundraiser is being organized on Eric’s behalf by Priscilla Anderson, Orchestra Manager. Click the link below to donate in honor of Eric’s success today!
